Starbucks to Consumers - Give Us Your iPhone and No One Gets Hurt

The US lags way behind the rest of the world when it comes to using mobile devices as payment methods. Starbucks wants to move us way ahead of the mobile purchasing curve.

Now you can download the Starbucks App from iTunes for use on your iPhone or iPod Touch that let's you do everything from find your local Starbucks (using GPS or wifi) to designing your drink and even pay for it (this option is available in Seattle and the Bay Area at 16 stores currently).

Is this the ultimate in laziness or consumerism? I am not sure which, but if anyone can help pave the way for mobile phones as a payment mechanism Starbucks can. It may also give light to many an aspiring Barista.
